Pittsboro, NC - Several recent guest speakers at Perry Harrison School have shared experiences with seventh and eighth grade social studies students.

"Guest speakers provide a valuable opportunity to engage students. Students are exposed to interesting adults who have valuable lessons to share and who serve as role models in our community,” said Dawn Streets, a seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher at Harrison.
Lily Clark, a student at UNC Chapel Hill, spoke to seventh graders January 24 and 25 about Southeast Asia. She represented Carolina Navigators, a program of the Center for Global Initiatives at UNC-CH.
On Jan. 30, Judge Allen Baddour spoke to eighth graders about the judicial system. His knowledge and expertise supplemented their study of government.
On Feb. 1, Mervin Jenkins, Principal of Horton Middle School, spoke to the eighth graders about peer pressure and the importance of making good choices. The real-life stories he shared and his musical talent made a lasting impact on the students. His presentation provided an introduction to an upcoming language arts unit implemented by Rocquel Erman, an eighth grade language arts teacher.
