Pittsboro, NC - On Thursday, November 16, students in kindergarten through grade five enjoyed a production of “El Libro Rojo”. The production, translated “The Red Book” in English, is a short musical fable that is written and performed entirely in Spanish.

“El Libro Rojo”, by playwright Joseph Henderson, is performed by the Walltown Children's Theatre, a nonprofit organization dedicated to arts education. The story takes place in Vera Cruz, Mexico. It focuses on a pumpkin farmer, his wife, and their new neighbor. Mrs. Fable acts as narrator and introduces the play using her red book. She explains to the audience that the stories in the red book are like magic and that, by reading them, they almost seem real. Prior to the performance, faculty and students had access to a plot summary in English.

Siler City Elementary School had the production on campus earlier this fall for its students.
