N.C. State University names Chelsea Marie Gardner of Pittsboro a Park Scholar

Pittsboro, NC - Chelsea Marie Gardner of Pittsboro has been awarded a N.C. State University Park Scholarship. She is the senior class president at Northwood High School, where she is also a varsity cheerleader and member of the National Honor Society. She volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and is a graduate of the N.C. Governor's School. Chelsea, daughter of Charles and Saundra Gardner, plans to major in communications.

Each of the 45 students selected from around the world receives paid tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies and travel and personal expenses for four years. They were selected from a pool of more than 1,300 applicants based on their accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service and character.
