Chatham Science students win accolades

Several Chatham County Schools students earned awards during a regional science fair this month at SciWorks Museum in Winston-Salem.

Students from Stokes, Rockingham, Caswell, Person, Orange, Alamance, Guilford, Forsyth, Davidson and Randolph counties participated, and the judges were scientists from business and industry in the area who volunteered to evaluate the projects.

Daniel Mahoney and Eric Williams, fifth-graders from North Chatham, won an elementary division award. Nathan Bright, an eighth-grader at Horton Middle, won an honorable mention for the middle school biology division. Alex Ross, a seventh-grader at Perry Harrison, won an honorable mention in the middle school earth science division.

Lindsay Lehman, a sixth-grader at Horton Middle, won third place in middle school physical science. Michael Lawrence, a sophomore at Northwood, won third place for high school earth science.
