Pittsboro, NC - The Board of Education voted to amend the current school year calendar (2008-09) to accommodate a missed school day on March 2 when the district had to close due to inclement weather. Several shifts in the calendar were necessary as a result of the missed day.
The Board voted to: 1) make Friday, April 10, a student day (was originally the Good Friday holiday); make Monday, April 13, a holiday (was originally a required annual leave day for 10 month staff); and making Wednesday, June 17, a required annual leave (i.e. vacation day for 10 month staff). The only day that would affect students would be Friday, April 10.
The Board voted to make this a half day of school as a compromise for families who may have vacation reservations for which they have already paid. Students will be dismissed at noon on April 10.
