Siler City, NC - On Wednesday evening, January 13, middle school instrumental musicians from Chatham Middle School and Silk Hope School performed a joint concert on the campus of Chatham Middle. Over eighty musicians played to an audience that filled the school gym. The bands were under the direction of Heather Meredith and Dustin Jennings.

Among the selections on the program were several pieces easily recognized by the audience like Michael Sweeney’s arrangement of Mickey Mouse March, Skip to My Lou, When the Saints Go Marching In and an adaptation of Old McDonald. Frank Erickson’s Rhythm of the Winds, Samuel Hazo’s Novo Lenio, and Michael Story’s arrangement of How the Grinch Stole Christmas were also concert pieces. Silk Hope eighth grader Guy Smith conducted the Silk Hope sixth grade band for Sakura Sakura.
