Pittsboro, NC - On Tuesday, March 15, Chatham County Schools, Workforce Investment Act (WIA), and LINKS (DSS) sponsored a Transition Fair at Central Carolina Community College - Pittsboro Campus. High school students from Chatham Central, Jordan-Matthews, and Northwood attended. Some parents attended the event as well.

The purpose of a Transition Fair is to help students and parents see what opportunities are available for students after graduation and how to pursue them. Guidance Counselors also inform students which classes they will need to take and pass in order to be eligible to attend these schools after graduation.

Speakers from various professions came and spoke to the students about their individual careers. Some of the featured careers were: nursing, barbering, and farming. Following each speaker, students were encouraged to ask questions.

Additionally, there were presenters from vocational schools, as well as Beyond Academics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Beyond Academics is a four-year certification for students with developmental disabilities.
