Bear Creek, NC - Chatham Central High School presented it's year-end academic awards.

1. 2006-07 ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARDS is presented to the following students who have received and A in each subject during each six weeks and on each exam for the entire year:

9th GRADE: Logan Fields, Paige Meier, Taylor Meier, and Nikki Roscoe

10th GRADE: Kristin Brady, Jordyn Hanson, and Sarah Jaeger

11th GRADE: Rebecca Bolton, Abe Harman, and Stephen Mitchell

12th GRADE: Lauren Caviness, Melissa Mitchell, and Jenna Stout

SENIOR AWARD OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, which means the student has received all A's on each six weeks and on each exam for four years.

The Math Award is presented to Jenna Stout who has maintained an overall average of 97.2 in Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, Pre Calculus, Calculus, and Advanced Placement AB Calculus.

10. The SOCIAL STUDIES AWARD is presented to the student who has maintained an “A” average, and has shown a great enthusiasm for the subject. This year's Social Studies Award goes to the student who has maintained an Overall 98.5 average in 8 social studies courses.

18. In March of 1983, the State Board of Education approved the North Carolina Scholars Program to begin with the 1983-1984 school year. Students who complete the State Board of Education requirements for a well-balanced, challenging high school curriculum as specified by the Department of Public Instruction will be named North Carolina Scholars and receive special recognition at graduation. The North Carolina Scholars in this class are the first group to meet the new requirements set forth by the state, which mandates that students have a 3.5 unweighted grade point average. The 2006-07 North Carolina Scholars should stand as their name is called:

25. Guideposts Sweet 16 Award - This year more than 20,000 girls from across the nation and world entered their first-person, true stories in the Guideposts scholarship contest. The “Grace Award” is given each year to only 16 girls whose stories reveal their extraordinary strength of character in facing difficult situations.

On behalf of Guidepost Magazine the “Grace Award” goes to Krystle Swain.
