Bear Creek, NC - Even though Friday, October 11, is an open week for the Chatham Central Bears Varsity Football team, the stadium and campus will be bustling with people. The Chatham Central High School Arts Department will be hosting the first regional version of the popular Arts Extravaganza.

First held in March of 2013, the Arts Extravaganza brought together students and teachers from Chatham County Schools for a day of celebration and performances. This year marks the move to district versions of the Extravaganza. Chatham Central District will hold their event on October 11, Northwood District will hold their event on March 7, 2014, and Jordan-Matthews District will hold their event on April 3, 2014.

The Central District Arts Festival will feature musical performances from Chatham Central High School Vocal & Instrumental programs, Bennett School, Bonlee School, and J.S. Waters School. Art from district schools will be displayed from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Should weather threaten the event, festivities will be moved in to the Chatham Central High School auditorium.

After the Arts Festival, join the Chatham Central Culinary Department and FCCLA Chapter for a Chicken Dinner benefitting Breast Cancer research. The Chatham Central Chapter of DECA & FBLA (Business & Marketing Clubs) will be sponsoring the 3rd Annual Touchdowns for Ta-Tas powder-puff football game at the Chatham Central Football Field on Friday, October 11, 2013. Games begin at 7:30 p.m. at a cost of $5.00 per person with all proceeds going to Central Carolina Hospital’s Breast Cancer Comfort Care Fund.
