Chatham Board of Education will participate in Level II Master Board training

Pittsboro, NC - The Chatham County Board of Education will participate in Level II Master Board training this spring. The training will consist of five training sessions that are four hours each in length. The training will be held at the central office board room and all meetings will be held on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Below is the schedule of the sessions:

    • Thursday, March 24, 2011
    • Thursday, April 21, 2011
    • Thursday, May 5, 2011
    • Thursday, May 12, 2011
    • Thursday, May 19, 2011

The core courses will be: Working Through Conflict, Connecting with the Community, Managing Meetings, Planning the Evaluation of the Superintendent, and Evaluating Your Board. The presenter will be Dr. Barbara Holland Chapman from the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA).

The NCSBA Master Board program emphasizes team and trust building, conflict resolution, goal setting, communication, managing change, ethics, problem solving, decision making and evaluation. The program, which is a joint project of the North Carolina School Boards Association and the School of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, responds to the desire of the school district’s leadership team to train as a unit and address the board issues that pertain to an individual school system.
