Pittsboro - On February 4, 2005, seventh and eighth grade students from Perry Harrison school participated in a career day. Students heard speakers talk about eight different jobs and what they do in a typical day, how their careers evolved, and educational and training requirements for their jobs.

Many of the guests were parents of students at Perry Harrison or members of the Chatham County community. Presenters included Sheriff Richard Webster, fireman and school board member Norman Clark, scientist at Glaxo Smith-Kline Marilyn Jansen, artist Sally Sutton, chef and manager at Fearrington Market Jonathan Chell and Hospice nurse Libby Hart.

Several speakers stressed the importance of education and how what a person does in middle and high school greatly affects his or her future.
