Chatham County, NC - Buster the Bus delighted Chatham County elementary students during the month of September as he and his friends from the Chatham County Schools Transportation Department visited schools to talk about bus safety.

The talking, miniature robotic bus is equipped with a working stop sign, flashing lights, and a stop arm that allow him to demonstrate bus safety concepts during the question and answer portion of the program.

The Transportation Department staff prepared a thirty-minute program focused on safety tips for students as they wait for, board, ride, and exit the bus. The annual presentation has been a part of the school system efforts to promote bus safety for the past three years. Students in pre-kindergarten through second grade have been the target audience in previous years. This fall the program was extended to third, fourth and fifth graders
