Bus drivers recognized by school transportation department

Chatham County Schools honored its school bus drivers during an annual recognition evening on Thursday, April 28, in Siler City. The event was sponsored by the Chatham County Schools Transportation Department with bus drivers and school administrators as guests.

The bus drivers first thoughts are for the safety of our students. They do their job in the freezing weather of winter and the heat of summer while taking it all in stride. Drivers always get the job done both timely and safely,” said Roy Kidd, Jr., Director of Transportation in Chatham County Schools.

The drivers transport approximately 3,800 students each day in ninety-five yellow school buses. A driver from each of the fifteen schools in the district was named as a Driver of the Year. They are:

Perry Harrison - Ronnie Gilmore

Pittsboro - Brigal Stone

SAGE - Keenan Zellars

Siler City - Donna Maness

Silk Hope - Billy Dowdy
