Bennett, NC - Scott Dean, weekend meteorologist on Channel 11 WTVD, visited fifth grade students in the classes of Dana Teague and Mitzi Brooks classes at Bennett Elementary School on Wednesday, March 16.

Dean talked about different weather systems and the precautions to take during severe weather. He used a tornado map to show the various strengths of tornadoes. He created a simulation of a tornado using two-liter bottles.

Teague noted how a visit from a real meteorologist enhanced the students' study of weather and encouraged many more questions. She also mentioned the students were eager to watch for their "shout out" from Scott Dean on his Saturday evening weather report.
