Pittsboro, NC - On Friday, December 7, the second grade teachers at Pittsboro Elementary held a math morning for their students in which money was the theme. Each of their classrooms featured a different activity involving counting money such as shopping with play money, money bingo, math games, singing and dancing, and an interactive money story where the children became coins and were actively involved in the story. State Employees Credit Union also presented a program to the students.
“What an exciting day for our second grade students! They loved participating in all the engaging math activities. Financial literacy is a big part of our new Common Core Standards and we were so happy our students could really learn about this topic in a variety of fun ways,” said Sarah Chicchi, Assistant Principal at Pittsboro Elementary.
