On Thursday, October 11, chickens from the Northwood agricultural classes and FFA participated in poultry show at the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh. Six hens and one rooster placed. Agricultural classes raised the birds from biddies. Great care was provided to maintain herd health and growth.
The animals placed as follows:
First place - Milford and Cinnamon (New Hampshire Reds)
Second place - Oreo (Dominique), Snowflake (White Americana Pullet), and Twitchy (Silver Seabright Pullet)
Third place - Aussie (Australorps)
Fourth place - Bertha (Plymouth Rock)
Colin Martin, head poultry grower, stated he knew they would win. “Milford is a beast, he rules to roost,” said Martin.
