A Taste of Chatham brings top hat flare

“Puttin’ on the Ritz for Seniors” is the theme for The Chatham County Council on Aging’s annual capital fundraiser, A Taste of Chatham. The gala will be held Sunday, August 3 from 4:00 until 7:00 in the upstairs clubhouse ballroom at the Governors Club.

The Chatham County Arts Council is pleased to present a special performance of "The Shape of Things" by Neil LaBute, at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at The General Store Café in Pittsboro. The play is produced, directed and preformed by students of The Department of Dramatic Art at the UNC through the support of The Carolina Student Arts Grant.

7th annual Clydefest returns to Bynum

ChathamArts and the Village of Bynum will celebrate legendary folk artist Clyde Jones at the seventh annual ClydeFest set for April 26. The festival, featuring hands-on children's arts activities with Jones and others, will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bynum Ball Park located off of U.S. 15-501 in Bynum, between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro.

CCCC Chatham Small Business Center receives arts business grant

Central Carolina Community College’s Chatham Small Business Center has been awarded a $6,000 grant to expand and enhance small businesses involved in the arts. The grant, from the North Carolina Community College System’s Small Business Center Network, provides full funding for “Artist Up and Away,” a program to support emerging artists in the Siler City area.

Chatham County teachers to host artist-in-residence programs

Classroom teachers of Chatham County are invited to host an artist-in-residence in their individual classrooms during the school year of 2008-09. The artist typically works with 2-4 classes of a grade level for a week, teaching a particular core curriculum unit, selected by the homeroom teacher, and involving students in a hands-on, interactive experience with the art form.
