Pittsboro, NC - Shake off the winter blues and let the good times roll at Pittsboro's First Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball sponsored by ChathamArts and the Abundance Foundation. The Big Easy style fun begins Saturday Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at historic Chatham Mills (480 Hillsboro Street).
Festivities include Cajun food provided by Chatham Marketplace, dancing to live music by The Shelbys and the San Francisco-based Tangria Jazz, outrageous costumes, "celebrity" appearances, karaoke, special prizes and surprises, and a cash bar.
Ticket proceeds will benefit the Abundance Foundation (promoting sustainable community projects including the outrageous Pittsboro Christmas parade this year) and Chatham Arts (supporting local artists, arts and cultural events throughout the community). Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door; $2 discount for ChathamArts members; available at Chatham Marketplace at 480 Hillsboro Street and ChathamArts Gallery at 115 Hillsboro Street. 919.542.0394.
The Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball will also support Katrina relief efforts. Ball guests are invited to participate in an auction for a
group service trip to New Orleans to benefit the Musicians' Village sponsored by Habitat for Humanity.
Pittsboro party-goers are encouraged to get into the Mardi Gras spirit by dancing the night away for good causes, and dressing with flair. Beggars and Choosers at 38 Hillsboro Street will offer a 20% discount on party attire and costumes just for the occasion.
