Pittsboro, NC - On March 26, the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center will be holding A Carolina Luau on its property in Silk Hope,
NC. The luau is the second big fundraising event the SHCAC has held in their efforts to raise the down payment to buy the land on which the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance is held twice a year.

A Carolina Luau will feature the music of Cajun princess Rosie Ledet, local surf rockers Jack Maverick & His Wild Rebels, rockabilly
thrills of Dave Quick from the Swang Brothers, and bluegrass from Wilmington's Possum Creek. As if that's not enough to get the body moving there will also be hula dancing classes, hooping, fire dancing, limbo, a luau costume contest, and kids' crafts and activities. The event gates will open at 4 pm and the music begins at 5 pm.

Tickets are only $10 in advance and $15 at the gate, and are available at shakorihills.org and by phone at 919-542-8142.

The Cabaret Tent will be the center of activities and music. There will be Shakori Hills Pizza and NC BBQ for dinner with Carolina Brewery beer and Hillbilly Bob's Soda. The Coffee Barn will be open with Larry's Beans coffee, Homeland Creamery ice cream, and other tasty goodies. Over-night camping space is available.

The SHCAC also holds many other events on the land such as The Hoppin' John Old-Time & Bluegrass Fiddlers' Convention, Woodsrock, weddings, parties, fundraisers, and festivals. The organization has so far raised $45,000 and is reaching for the goal of a $75,000 down payment. SHCAC is looking forward to owning the land so that they can make improvements and create a place where the festival feeling can last throughout the year.

Event sponsors include: Carolina Brewery, Universal Printing, Larry's Beans, Ninth Street Baker, Chatham Portables, and Rooted Event Design
