2011 Carolina Music Awards nominations include Siler City bluegrass band Nu-Blu

Siler City, NC - The 2011 Carolina Music Awards announce nominations for bluegrass artists Nu-Blu (Country / Bluegrass / Americana Group of the Year), Donna Hughes (Female Mocalist of the Year), and Lonesome River Band (Country / Bluegrass / Americana Group of the Year). The 4th year of the Carolina Music Awards continues to the shine light on artists in the Carolinas in Rock, Hip Hop, Country, Bluegrass, Americana and Rhythm & Blues.

The Nu-Blu bluegrass band is nominated for the Carolina Music Awards Country / Bluegrass / Americana Group of the Year. Siler City, NC based bluegrass band, Nu-Blu, took home the Carolina Music Award in this same category last year. Pinecastle Records will release the band's new album this summer.

The Lonesome River Band is nominated for the Carolina Music Awards Country / Bluegrass / Americana Group of the Year. This September, Lonesome River Band will celebrate their 30th Anniversary entertaining audiences with their distinctive sound. LRB members have strong connections in the Carolinas. Mike Hartgrove makes his home in Albermarle, NC and Sammy Shelor was born in North Carolina.

Donna Hughes has been nominated for the Carolina Music Awards Country Female Vocalist of the Year. Trinity, NC based acclaimed singer-songwriter, Donna Hughes also received nominations in this category in 2009 and 2010. Donna is celebrating her current album release, Hellos, Goodbyes, and Butterflies.

Other nominations in the Country / Bluegrass Americana Band / Group category include the Wahoo Creek Band, Mary Selvidge & Raleigh Road Band, Johnny Orr & The South Station Band and Songs of Water.

This year they added Roberta Flack as a co-founder of the CM Awards, joining Randy Travis among the legendary artists that support the CM Awards. Every year the organization makes their event more and more beneficial to Carolina artists and support the great music made in the Carolinas.

Categories range from Hip Hop, Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Country and the combined group of Country, Bluegrass, Americana. Producers, DJs and others are also recognized at the annual event.
